May Drop: "New Beginnings"

"New Beginnings" explores the fragility of life. I have been on a journey reexamining relationships, femininity, aging and so on. Flowers are often used as a metaphor for the human condition… Rooted in Greek mythology, the peony brings forth the promise of healing and renewal. I took the idea of beginning again and returned to the basics, simplifying the image of the peony. The raw, fragmented shapes embodies my imperfections, hopes, and possibilities.
